Recruiting a property accountant for your practice.
For practices and property managers with landlord clients, block management or service charge work.
What we test
Every property accountant we put forward sits a practical test set for this work, reviewed by a qualified accountant. It covers:
- Rent reconciliation
- Landlord statement
- Service charge apportionment
Typical work they’ll do for you
- Rent collection reconciliation and arrears tracking
- Landlord statements
- Client money account reconciliations
- Tenancy deposit tracking
- Service charge budgets and year-end service charge accounts
- Landlord tax schedules
They prepare and reconcile. Payments and client money transfers are approved by your team, with system access set up role by role.
They prepare; your team reviews and signs off. They can’t act as your HMRC agent or sign off accounts or audits.
Monthly landlord statements
Your property accountant reconciles rent received against the rent roll, records arrears and prepares statements showing rent, fees and expenses. Your team approves the statements and authorises payments to landlords.
Software we screen for
We put forward candidates who know the software your firm uses.

Find my property accountantQuestions about property accountants
Can they move client money?
No. They prepare and reconcile. Payments and client money transfers are approved by your team, and access to each system is set up role by role.
Do you recruit for service charge work?
Yes. Service charge accountants are priced as Senior Accountant, and property bookkeepers as Bookkeeper. Property accountants sit at the Accountant level.
What about client money protection?
Under GOV.UK rules, letting and property management agents in the private rented sector in England who hold clients’ money must join a client money protection scheme. Scheme membership and the client account stay with your firm; your accountant reconciles the account. Source: GOV.UK
