What happens if your offshore accountant doesn’t work out?

In short: if the person we recruit isn’t the right fit, we replace them free of charge within 90 days of their start date, whichever way you hire through us. Recruitment plus staffing runs on a 3-month minimum, then 30 days’ notice. This article sets out exactly what our published terms say.

Hiring anyone carries a risk that it won’t work out. Hiring someone you have only met on a video call can feel riskier still. As specialist recruiters, our job is to reduce that risk before the person starts, and to stand behind the placement afterwards. Here is how our replacement guarantee works, using only the terms on our pricing page.

Is there a replacement guarantee?

Yes. Both ways of hiring through us include the same guarantee: free replacement within 90 days of their start date.

  • Recruitment plus staffing (Dedicated): Free replacement within 90 days of their start date.
  • Recruitment only (Direct hire): Free replacement within 90 days of their start date. It is included in the one-time fee.

What counts as “not working out”?

Our terms offer a free replacement within 90 days of the start date, whether the accountant leaves or simply doesn’t work out for your practice. If you have doubts about the hire in that period, tell us early and we’ll talk it through with you and start on a replacement.

How quickly do you find a replacement?

A replacement goes through the same recruitment process as the first hire: search and screening, a technical test reviewed by a qualified accountant, and a shortlist with scorecards. We search for candidates who match your brief, and a recruiter screens each one. We’ll give you a firm date when we start.

What are the notice terms after 90 days?

It depends on how you hired.

  • Recruitment plus staffing (Dedicated): 3-month minimum, then 30 days’ notice. We remain the employer, so we handle the employment side of any change.
  • Recruitment only (Direct hire): you employ the accountant on your own contract, so notice periods follow the contract you agreed with them.

Prices exclude VAT. UK business clients account for VAT under the reverse charge.

How do you spot a mismatch early?

With recruitment plus staffing, we check in with you and with your accountant every month. Those conversations are where small issues surface: unclear instructions, a gap in software knowledge, review points that keep repeating. Raising them early usually fixes them. When it doesn’t, the replacement guarantee is the backstop.

Three habits help on your side:

  • Agree a short written list of what “good” looks like in the first month.
  • Track review points per job, so you can see whether they are falling.
  • Tell us about a concern when you first notice it, not at day 89.

What if I want to keep them, but employ them myself?

That’s allowed. If you hired through recruitment plus staffing and later want to employ the accountant directly: If you later want to employ the person directly, a buyout fee of three months’ fees applies.

What happens to access when someone leaves?

Your accountant works inside your systems through named user accounts, so removing access is in your hands and takes minutes. Our security page explains the controls we put in place for every placement.
