Recruiting a year-end accounts accountant for your practice.
For practices with a backlog of year-end jobs, or peaks that stretch the accounts team every spring and autumn.
What we test
Every year-end accounts accountant we put forward sits a practical test set for this work, reviewed by a qualified accountant. It covers:
- Draft accounts from a trial balance
- Year-end adjustments
- FRS 105 disclosure
Typical work they’ll do for you
- Limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts preparation
- Trial balance to draft accounts, ready for your review
- Journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset registers
- FRS 102 and FRS 105 (micro-entity) accounts, prepared to the standard your client needs
- Companies House filing packs prepared for your approval
- Clearing review points raised by your team
They prepare; your team reviews and signs off. They can’t act as your HMRC agent or sign off accounts or audits.
A limited company year-end
Your accountant imports the trial balance into your accounts production software, posts accruals, prepayments and depreciation, and prepares draft FRS 105 accounts with a short list of queries. Your manager reviews the draft, clears the queries with the client, signs it off and files it.
Software we screen for
We put forward candidates who know the software your firm uses.

What will a year-end accountant prepare for us?
Draft accounts from the trial balance, with the journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset work behind them. Your team reviews the draft, signs it off and files it.
Do you test FRS 102 and FRS 105?
Yes. The technical test asks candidates to prepare draft accounts from a trial balance, post year-end adjustments and complete an FRS 105 micro-entity disclosure. Every technical test is reviewed by a qualified accountant.
Which accounts production software do they use?
We screen for IRIS, CCH, TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, and put forward candidates who know the software your firm uses. They work in your systems through a named user account.
